There are no Quarterly
or Half Yearly exams
- Minister Anbil
Mahesh Poyamozhi
Education Minister
Anbil Mahesh Poyamozhi has said that the quarterly and half-yearly examinations
will not be held in the 2021-2022 academic year and that the general
examinations will be held as planned.
The monthly review
meeting held on 12.10.2021 on behalf of the Department of School Education at
the DPI campus in Chennai was chaired by the Minister of School Education Anbil
Mahesh Poyamozhi. The meeting was attended by Commissioner of School Education
Nandakumar, all District Chief Education Officers and District Education
Officers. The meeting discussed the general examinations for school children in
Tamil Nadu and the programs related to the field of school education.
After attending the meeting, Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyamozhi said that,
Ø The Chief Minister has
ordered to open schools for students from class one to eight from November 1.
Accordingly, measures to ensure the safety of students during the opening of
schools were discussed.
Ø Steps are being taken
to reflect on what problems we faced when schools were opened for students in
grades 9-12 and to keep the lessons learned from it.
Ø All sorts of measures
are being taken to ensure that no one can be blamed and that the health of the
children is taken into consideration. Accordingly, schools will be open for
students in classes 1-8 on November 1.
Ø No order has been
issued to place half-day schools for students in grades 1-5. Students come
directly to 1st class without coming to LKG, UKG class. So we ask parents to be
there to allay students' fears.
Ø Parents can leave
students in class and wait outside. Parents can take it home when they think
children can’t wear the mask for long. Parents can take their children home in
as little as an hour if they wish. The move is aimed at getting children used
to coming to school.
Ø Classes 10,11,12 will
no longer have the opportunity to conduct quarterly and half-yearly
examinations. There is a plan to hold only one examination in a combined manner
in December. This is because it has been decided to conduct this examination
directly so that the students do not get tense while facing the general
examination.
Ø The general examination
will be held next year (2022). It usually takes place in late February or early
March.
Ø Schools are being
cleaned by the local body government. With 19 days to go before the schools
reopen, work is underway to clean up all the schools.
