Ilaiyaraja performed symphony music in
London on March 9, 2025. His music was loved by the audience. Born in
Pannapuram, Theni district, Ilaiyaraja was introduced to classical music by
his elder brother, Pavalar Varatharajan. With the encouragement of his teacher
in Chennai, he engaged in Western music training and today has captivated the
world with his music. He has composed music for over 1000 Tamil films so far
and has already been honoured by the Rajya Sabha MP of the Central Government.
Following this, he performed his first symphony titled ‘Valiant’ at a concert
in London, accompanied by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, at 12.30 am, the
Indian equivalent of midnight. Ilayaraja, who wrote the music in 35 days, has
set the record of becoming the first Indian to stage a symphony. The audience
was mesmerized by the symphony music at the Apollo Arena. Karthik Raja, Yuvan
Shankar Raja, and director Balki were among the guests who attended the event.
Earlier, when Ilayaraja came on stage, the audience was filled with enthusiastic
applause. The music concert, which lasted for one and a half hours, lasted only
45 minutes.
